Emergency Bridal Gown Care
It is important for you relax and enjoy your special day. Unfortunately, sometimes accidents happen, so here are some tips that can keep you looking flawless on your wedding day:
- Hide several safety pins on the underside of your gown in case you suffer a broken bustle loop, torn strap or faulty zipper.
Stains or spills are almost a guarantee on your wedding day:
- Once you are in your gown, try to only drink clear liquids (at least until the reception).
- Blot spills with a clean, white cloth. Never rub a stain as rubbing can permanently damage the fibers of your gown.
- If you have a major spill or other water soluble stain (tea, mud, blood, etc.) dab the spot gently with cool water or club soda and air dry. Note: Know the fabric of your wedding gown. Silk, Rayon and Acetate are water-sensitive and you may cause permanent water spots.
- To camouflage grease, lipstick or other oily stains, pat baby powder or cornstarch directly onto the spot.
- Caution: Hairspray contains alcohol which can dissolve dyes that may have been used to color your gown.
- Unless a stain is highly noticeable and makes you self-conscious, leave it alone until you can get professional cleaning for your gown.
