Southside Cleaners-Launderers opened in 1954 (as Florida Drive-In Cleaners) at the same 901 South Florida Avenue address that it occupies today, more than 50 years later. Through those years the business has been recognized as innovative, from the convenient drive through curb service, to the free pick-up and delivery service.

The business was purchased by the Myers family in 1962 and since 1988 continues to operate under the ownership of Greg and Beth Myers and their son-in-law and daughter Wash and Lauren Respess. Through those years, Southside has been known as “the convenient address for fine dry cleaning”.

In 1986, a new location was opened on County Road 540A at Carter Road in the Highland Station shopping center. As business grew, the Myers’s acquired property at the corner of County Road 540A and Lakeland Highlands Road and built a second full-service dry cleaning facility with the same drive-through convenience of the original location.

Having been residents of Lakeland since the early 1950’s, the Myers family is active in the community serving on boards of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce, Boys & Girls Clubs of Lakeland, Campfire, Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center, and the Lakeland Rotary Club.

The family is also active in the dry cleaning trade, serving on boards for the Southeastern Fabricare Association, the International Fabricare Institute, and are members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists (see our “Partners” page).
